Washburn County, WI (August 21, 2026) – A 30-year-old Rice Lake man died on Wednesday, August 19, after a two-vehicle collision on northbound US 63. The collision occurred around 7 a.m. when a commercial motor vehicle stopped to turn west onto County Rd J.
A four-door sedan then struck the rear of the commercial vehicle’s trailer. The sedan’s driver had to be extricated, and aid was provided before the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased was identified as Austin Knutson, 30, of Rice Lake. The circumstances surrounding the deadly accident remain under review, and additional findings are expected as the inquiry continues.
