Carter County, MO (June 25, 2026) – A fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 60 in Carter County left one person dead and several others injured on Tuesday night, June 23. The police reported to the scene around 9:29 p.m. after reports of a collision involving two Chevrolet vehicles.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado HD was traveling southbound while a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling eastbound when the crash occurred. Investigators said the Silverado failed to yield, causing the Colorado to strike the vehicle.
The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, a 35-year-old man from Ellsinore, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. by the Carter County Coroner. A 40-year-old Ellsinore woman riding in Colorado was airlifted to Saint Louis University Hospital with injuries.
The Silverado driver, a 57-year-old Mountain View man, was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. A 51-year-old Mountain View woman in the Silverado was also airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and removed from the scene by tow services at the request of authorities.
Multiple agencies assisted in the response and roadway clearance. The police are actively investigating the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
