How Are Multi-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Investigated?
Collisions involving three or more vehicles require investigators to determine the sequence of impacts before identifying what caused the crash. Officers typically review witness statements, vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and traffic control devices while reconstructing the incident.
Busy intersections can present additional challenges due to multiple turning movements, changing traffic signals, and heavy traffic volumes. Investigators may also examine surveillance footage or other available evidence to determine whether driver actions or roadway conditions contributed to the collision.
The information gathered during the investigation helps authorities establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and determine whether any traffic violations or other factors played a role.
