Kent, WA (July 20, 2026) – A 55-year-old Kent man died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night, July 18. The collision happened around 9:40 p.m. at South 236th Street and Pacific Highway South.
Emergency units provided lifesaving care, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name had not been released in the initial report.
The 35-year-old Federal Way resident driving the vehicle was later booked on suspicion of driving under the influence involving marijuana. The driver also faces a first-degree negligent driving allegation involving a vulnerable road user.
Southbound Pacific Highway South was closed while evidence was collected and later reopened. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under review.
