How Pedestrian Accidents Involving Children Often Occur
Pedestrian accidents involving children frequently happen in residential areas and near intersections. Streets with regular vehicle traffic and nearby homes can create situations where drivers and kids share the same space.
Children may cross streets quickly or step into the roadway without fully checking for oncoming traffic. Their smaller size can also make them harder for drivers to notice, especially near parked cars or intersections.
Afternoon hours may see increased activity outdoors as kids return from school or spend time outside. Drivers traveling through neighborhoods may encounter more foot traffic during this time.
Reduced speeds, clear visibility at intersections, and careful attention to sidewalks and crosswalks can help reduce the risk of crashes involving children.
