How Do Bicycle and Emergency Vehicle Crashes Happen?
Streets like 19th Street and Avery Street often carry both local traffic and service vehicles, creating complex situations for drivers and cyclists. When emergency vehicles are responding to calls, they may move quickly through intersections, increasing the need for awareness from everyone nearby.
Bicyclists can be harder to see, especially at night. Low visibility and limited lighting may reduce reaction time for both drivers and cyclists. Even with sirens or lights, sudden movements can lead to unexpected conflicts in shared spaces.
Urban intersections require careful coordination between all road users. Clear visibility, reduced speeds, and attention to surroundings can help lower the chances of crashes involving bicycles and larger vehicles.
