Indianapolis, IN (August 11, 2026) – Authorities are actively investigating a three-vehicle collision that left an IMPD officer recovering and another person critically injured on Sunday morning, August 9, on Indianapolis’ east side. The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. at East 30th Street and North Gladstone Avenue.
Police said the officer was responding to a call when one vehicle moved onto the shoulder to allow the patrol car to pass. A Mustang attempted to pass the vehicle and struck its rear fender, causing the Mustang to spin into the officer’s path. The officer was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. The passenger in the Mustang was also transported and was reported to be in critical condition.
The driver of the Mustang, a 29-year-old man, was arrested and preliminarily charged with driving without ever receiving a license and being involved in a crash resulting in serious bodily injury. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
