Seal Beach, CA (July 22, 2026) – A passenger was taken to a hospital in Los Alamitos after a two-vehicle wreck near the I-405 and I-605 split in Seal Beach on Tuesday, July 21, according to dispatch logs. A white Mazda MZ6 and a black Tesla were involved, with the Mazda sustaining moderate front-end damage.

Freeway service crews later removed the Mazda from the roadway. Details about the extent of the passenger’s injuries were not immediately available.

Our thoughts go out to the victims as we hope for their recovery.

Why Do Complaints of Pain Still Warrant a Hospital Trip After a Crash?

Not every injury after a crash is immediately obvious, which is why a complaint of pain alone is usually enough to prompt a trip to the hospital. Soft tissue injuries, like whiplash or bruising, can take hours to fully develop and may not show clear symptoms right at the scene.

Emergency crews are trained to take these complaints seriously rather than dismiss them, since some injuries, including internal ones, aren’t visible from the outside. A patient who feels fine immediately after impact can sometimes develop symptoms once adrenaline wears off.

Hospitals typically run imaging or other tests to rule out fractures, internal injuries, or other damage that a quick visual check can’t catch. This cautious approach helps ensure that a seemingly minor complaint doesn’t turn out to be something more serious left untreated.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
