What Are the Risks of High-Speed Police Pursuits?
High-speed driving can increase the danger of a crash by giving drivers less time to react to traffic, road conditions, and unexpected hazards. Greater speed can also increase the force involved when a vehicle strikes another object or leaves the roadway.
Passengers can face serious risks during high-speed collisions, particularly when vehicles crash at elevated speeds or strike fixed objects. Seat belts can help keep occupants inside the vehicle and reduce the chance of severe injury during a crash.
