Indianapolis, IN (August 15, 2026) – A man died after a vehicle struck him on Thursday night near the first block of State Ave east of downtown Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers were dispatched at about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck between E Washington St and Southeastern Ave.
Officers found the man with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to police. The initial report did not provide his identity.
The circumstances that led to the pedestrian being struck were not immediately clear. The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing.
