Why Pedestrian Crashes Can Result in Serious Injuries
Pedestrian crashes can be especially dangerous because people walking near traffic have little protection compared with vehicle occupants. The severity of harm usually depends on factors such as vehicle speed, roadway design, lighting, and the point of contact.
Investigators reviewing pedestrian accidents may examine traffic signals, crosswalks, vehicle movement, and available video footage. They may also consider visibility conditions and statements from people who witnessed the crash. These details can help explain how the vehicle and pedestrian moved before the collision and provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances involved.
