Pedestrian Safety Near Interstate Exit Ramps
Interstate exit ramps can create challenging conditions because vehicles often change speeds while drivers focus on merging onto nearby roads. People walking near these areas may be difficult for motorists to see, especially when traffic is moving quickly.
Drivers should remain alert near ramps, intersections, and roadside areas where pedestrians may be present. Lower speeds and careful attention can provide more time to react to unexpected hazards. Pedestrians should avoid walking near active traffic lanes whenever possible and use designated crossings when available. Good visibility, proper road design, and awareness from everyone using the road can help reduce serious pedestrian accidents.
