Early Morning Pedestrian Crashes Can Be Especially Dangerous
Pedestrian crashes before sunrise can be severe because visibility is usually limited. Drivers may have less time to see someone near the road, especially when headlights, shadows, and low light affect the view ahead.
Wide roads can add more risk for people on foot. Vehicles may be moving at steady speeds, and drivers may be focused on lanes, signals, or nearby traffic. A pedestrian has no protection during contact with a vehicle, which can lead to fatal harm.
When more than one vehicle is involved, investigators frequently review travel direction, lighting, lane position, vehicle damage, and driver statements. These details can help explain how the crash happened and whether any driver had time to react.
