Wilbur, IN (June 19, 2026) – A 69-year-old woman lost her life in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of SR-142 and Wilbur Rd in Morgan County on Wednesday, June 17.
Investigators said Pamela Hampton of Martinsville was driving a 2001 Honda Accord northbound shortly before 10 a.m. when her vehicle reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the path of an eastbound 2013 GMC pickup. The pickup was being driven by 20-year-old Andrew Wehrling of Mooresville and was pulling a trailer loaded with lawn maintenance equipment.
Authorities believe Wehrling attempted to avoid Hampton’s vehicle but was unable to do so before striking the driver’s side of the Accord. Hampton, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead following the collision.
A dog riding in Hampton’s vehicle survived and was later examined at a veterinary clinic. Wehrling and his male passenger were not injured. The intersection remained closed for approximately three hours while investigators completed their work and crews cleared the roadway. They continue to review the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash and will release additional information as it becomes available.
