What to Know About Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accidents
Pedestrian hit-and-run cases occur when a driver strikes a person and leaves without stopping to provide information or assistance. These cases can make it more difficult for investigators to identify the vehicle and determine what happened.
Pedestrians are especially vulnerable because they have little physical protection against a moving vehicle. Drivers are generally expected to remain alert for people walking near or crossing roadways, particularly in areas with businesses, intersections, and limited visibility.
Witnesses, nearby security cameras, vehicle debris, and other physical evidence can sometimes help investigators identify a vehicle that leaves after striking a pedestrian. Anyone who witnesses such a case may be able to provide useful information to authorities.
