Anderson County, SC (September 8, 2026) – A 17-year-old died, and two others were hurt early Monday morning in a crash on Highway 81 near Country Lane.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the teen as Aidan David Schulz of Piedmont. The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado carrying four occupants was traveling west on Highway 81.
According to investigators, the pickup left the roadway and entered a ditch before hitting a parked boat and a gas line. The collision also caused damage to a nearby home.
Investigators said Schulz was speeding and was not wearing a seat belt. One occupant was reported uninjured, while two others were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not determined whether alcohol contributed to the crash. Toxicology testing is planned as the investigation continues.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation.
