Ouachita Parish, LA (September 8, 2026) – A 38-year-old Bernice man was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a pickup truck on Highway 34 in Ouachita Parish.
The fatal incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. near Smith Street, according to Louisiana State Police Troop F. Investigators identified the pedestrian as Dustin Gray.
Police said a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south in the left lane when Gray was struck while standing in that lane. The reason he was in the roadway remains unclear. Gray died at the scene from his injuries.
Impairment is not suspected at this time, though routine toxicology samples were collected from the driver for analysis. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
