What Information Is Commonly Reviewed After a Fatal Pedestrian Crash?
Following a fatal pedestrian crash, investigators typically examine where the pedestrian entered the roadway, vehicle movements, roadway markings, lighting conditions, and visibility at the time of the collision. Physical evidence, including vehicle damage and the impact site, can help explain how the incident occurred.
Investigators may also review witness statements, surveillance footage, traffic conditions, and the actions of both the driver and pedestrian before the collision. Factors such as road design and crossing locations may also be considered. These findings help provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
