Casselberry, FL (September 12, 2026) – A 37-year-old pedestrian was injured on Friday morning after being struck by a marked police patrol car at North Winter Park Drive and 7th Street in Casselberry.
The incident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on September 11. The patrol car was traveling west on 7th Street and was turning left onto North Winter Park Drive when it struck the man, who was walking north in a marked crosswalk. The officer told troopers they did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The officer was not injured, while the pedestrian, an Altamonte Springs man, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
We are thinking of those affected and wish them well in recovery.
Pedestrian Safety at Crosswalks
Drivers should slow down and check carefully for pedestrians before turning at intersections. A marked crosswalk gives pedestrians a designated place to cross, but drivers still need to watch for people entering or already in the roadway.
Pedestrians should stay alert while crossing and watch for vehicles that may be turning. Making eye contact with drivers when possible and checking nearby traffic can provide an added layer of caution.
