Hermitage, MO (July 20, 2026) – A person succumbed to their injuries after being struck by a vehicle on County Road 273 three miles south of Hermitage early Sunday morning, July 19, around 12:19 a.m.
According to the crash report, a 2008 Ford Escape traveling northbound struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The 56-year-old man from Wheatland was pronounced dead at the scene and later taken to the Springfield Mortuary.
The Ford Escape driver, a 37-year-old man from Hermitage, was not reported injured. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by Stauffer’s Towing. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
