Chester, MD (July 18, 2026) – One person suffered burn injuries following a gas-related explosion on Thursday evening, July 16, on Jones Road in Chester. Emergency units responded to the scene around 6:37 p.m. after reports of an explosion involving a gas appliance.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when a pilot light was ignited, triggering an explosion. A later update indicated the explosion was believed to have involved a water heater rather than a stove. The injured person suffered burns to the face and hands.
A medical helicopter was requested to assist with the emergency response. Additional information about the victim’s condition has not been released.
