Greeneville, TN (July 22, 2026) – One person died after a residential fire destroyed a home on West Pine Road in Greene County on Monday evening. Emergency units were called to the property around 6 p.m. following reports of a structure fire.
Officials said firefighters arrived and found the residence fully engulfed in flames. After the blaze was contained, responders discovered a body beneath the debris left behind by the fire. Fire investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Greene County Sheriff’s Department are working to determine the cause of the fire.
The remains were sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy and identification. The incident remains under review by authorities. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
