Phoenix, AZ (January 18, 2026) – Authorities have identified 50-year-old Jennifer Stitt as the victim of a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early on Thursday morning in north Phoenix. The incident took place shortly before 6 a.m. on Deer Valley Rd near 26th Ave, just west of I-17.
According to Phoenix police, the driver was stopped at a red light when the light turned green, and they began traveling westbound. At that moment, Stitt stepped into the road and was struck. The driver immediately called 911 following the collision.
Emergency crews responded and transported Stitt to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police have not indicated that impairment or excessive speed played a role in the incident.
