House Fires and the Risks to Occupants
House fires can escalate quickly, producing intense heat, smoke, and toxic gases. Smoke inhalation is a leading cause of injury or death in residential fires, even before flames reach occupants.
Quick evacuation and immediate firefighting response are critical in improving survival chances. Firefighters often focus on both containing the blaze and ensuring all residents are safely removed.
Proper smoke alarms, fire escape planning, and awareness of fire hazards inside homes can help reduce the risk of serious injuries during residential fires.
