What Makes Hit-and-Run Crashes Especially Dangerous for Cyclists
Cyclists are more exposed than drivers, which can increase the severity of injuries in a crash. When a vehicle strikes a bicycle, the rider often has little protection from impact.
Hit-and-run incidents can delay immediate assistance if the driver leaves the scene. This can make conditions worse for those who are injured.
Intersections are common locations for these crashes, especially when traffic signals are ignored. Following signals and staying alert can help reduce the risk of serious collisions involving cyclists.
