What Is Reviewed in Late-Night Intersection Crashes?
Late-night intersection crashes are often reviewed by examining traffic signal timing, driver speed, and visibility conditions at the time of impact. Reduced lighting can affect how quickly drivers recognize crossing traffic.
Investigators also assess roadway evidence such as skid marks, vehicle positioning, and debris patterns to reconstruct the collision. These details help determine which vehicle entered the intersection first.
When impairment is suspected, toxicology results and driver behavior are closely evaluated as part of the investigation. Combined, these factors help clarify how and why the crash occurred.
