What Information Is Typically Reviewed After an Intersection Crash?
After an intersection crash, investigators commonly examine right-of-way rules, traffic control devices, and vehicle movements leading up to the collision. These details help determine how each driver entered the intersection and whether either vehicle failed to yield.
Speed and visibility are also reviewed, especially at rural crossings where sightlines may be limited. Investigators often analyze roadway markings, skid patterns, and vehicle damage to reconstruct the point of impact. Airbag deployment and seat belt use are also noted in injury assessments. Weather and road surface conditions, even when dry, are considered to rule out environmental factors that could affect stopping distance or driver reaction time.
