Springfield, IL (July 29, 2026) – Injuries were reported after a four-vehicle crash involving at least one truck-tractor semi-trailer on Interstate 72 eastbound at Interstate 55 northbound in Springfield on Tuesday, July 28. The crash was reported at approximately 10:23 a.m. near milepost 97.
Emergency units responded to the scene, where significant lane closures were put in place following the collision. The number of people hurt and the extent of their injuries have not been confirmed. Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the scene was being cleared.
