Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a difference in how severe a crash is? Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force involved in any impact, which tends to produce more serious injuries and vehicle damage.
Why is distracted driving considered so risky? Taking eyes or attention off the road for even a few seconds means a driver can miss a stopped car, a lane change, or a pedestrian until it's too late to avoid a collision.
How do road and weather conditions play into crashes like this one? Wet pavement, debris, or reduced visibility can affect how a vehicle handles, especially during sudden lane changes or on freeway offramps, and can make a minor mistake harder to correct.
What should someone do right after being in a car accident? Move to a safe spot if possible, call 911, exchange information with other drivers if they remain at the scene, and seek medical evaluation even if injuries aren't immediately obvious.
What to Do After a Hit-and-Run Crash in Pittsburg, CA
If you're involved in a hit-and-run, try to note as many details as possible about the other vehicle, its color, direction of travel, and any partial plate information, and report it to law enforcement right away. Get checked by a medical provider even if you feel fine, since injuries like whiplash or internal bruising can take hours to show symptoms. Keep copies of the police report and any towing or repair paperwork, and follow up with the investigating agency for updates on the case.
