Why Are Stop Sign Violations Dangerous at Rural Intersections?
Rural intersections can become dangerous when drivers fail to stop or misjudge approaching traffic. Vehicles traveling on highways often move at higher speeds, leaving little time for drivers entering from side roads to react safely.
Intersection crashes involving cross traffic often result in side-impact collisions that can cause significant damage and injuries. Investigators commonly review traffic control devices, visibility, and vehicle movement patterns to determine how the crash occurred. In serious collisions, emergency crews may request both ground and air medical transport to assist injured victims more quickly.
