How Rollover Accidents Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Rollover crashes are often linked to serious injuries because vehicles can strike the ground multiple times during the incident. Occupants may also be thrown against the inside of the vehicle as it rolls, especially during multi-vehicle accidents or sudden impacts at intersections.
Several factors can increase the chance of a rollover, including vehicle speed, sharp steering movements, and impacts from other vehicles. SUVs, pickup trucks, and taller vehicles generally have a higher center of gravity, which may make them more likely to roll over during a collision. After these crashes, emergency crews often evaluate occupants for head injuries, chest trauma, and neck or back pain. Damage to traffic signals or roadway equipment can also create added hazards for drivers traveling through the area after the accident.
