POMONA, Los Angeles County, Calif., Nov. 5, 2026 — One person was reportedly injured on Wednesday morning, November 4, in a two-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 10 near Fairplex Drive in Pomona, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash involved a blue Honda Accord and a gray Kia SUV, the CHP traffic log shows. The collision happened just west of Fairplex Drive and left vehicles blocking the carpool lane on eastbound I-10.
The CHP initially logged the crash as a collision with no injuries before updating it to a crash with injuries and an ambulance en route.
A tow truck was requested for the Honda Accord, and the vehicle was later moved from the Fairplex Drive area to a nearby parking lot. The California Highway Patrol's Freeway Service Patrol also responded and later closed out its assignment at the scene. The carpool lane had been held for a time before reopening.
Investigators continue reviewing the collision. We hope those who were hurt recover fully.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a crash worse?
Yes. Higher speed gives drivers less time to react and increases the force of impact, which usually means more serious injuries and vehicle damage.
Why is distracted driving a particular risk on freeways?
At highway speeds, even a few seconds of taking eyes off the road can cover a long distance, leaving little time to brake or steer around slowing or stopped traffic.
What should someone do right after a crash like this one?
Drivers should move to a safe spot if possible, check for injuries, call 911, and exchange information with the other driver while waiting for law enforcement.
Can weather or road conditions contribute to freeway crashes?
Yes. Wet pavement, glare, or heavy traffic can reduce visibility and traction, making it harder for drivers to stop safely, though no such factors have been confirmed in this incident.
