POTTSBORO, Grayson County, Texas, Oct. 28, 2026 — A 25-year-old driver died on Tuesday afternoon, October 27, in a three-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Pearce Drive near Pottsboro, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. No one else was hurt, the agency said.
A preliminary DPS investigation found the driver was behind the wheel of a Nissan Rogue when it rear-ended a delivery van. The impact reportedly pushed the SUV into the path of another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The Rogue sideswiped that vehicle and rolled.
The driver was thrown from the SUV during the rollover and was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS has not released the victim's name. The other two drivers involved were not injured.
Troopers continue to investigate what led to the initial rear-end collision. No further details, including possible charges or contributing factors, have been released.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the person who died.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does impairment usually factor into fatal crashes like this one? Alcohol, drugs, or fatigue are common contributors in fatal crashes nationwide, though investigators must confirm impairment through toxicology and witness evidence before it's listed as a cause.
Where do fatal crashes typically happen? Multi-vehicle collisions like rear-end chains usually occur on busier roads where speeds are higher and following distances shrink, though fatal crashes can happen anywhere traffic moves fast enough.
What makes a crash more likely to turn fatal? Higher speeds, a vehicle rolling over, and occupants being ejected all raise the risk of death significantly compared with a low-speed impact where everyone stays belted inside the vehicle.
How much does speed affect whether someone survives a crash? Even modest speed increases reduce the time a driver has to react and increase the force of any impact, which is why slower-speed crashes are far more survivable than high-speed ones.
What to Do After a Rollover Crash in Pottsboro, TX
If you're involved in a multi-vehicle crash, stay inside your vehicle if possible until you've assessed your surroundings and it's safe to move. Call 911 right away, even if injuries aren't obvious at first. Rollover crashes can cause internal injuries or spinal trauma that take time to show symptoms, so anyone involved should be checked by a medical professional as soon as possible.
Exchange information with other drivers if you're able, and avoid discussing fault at the scene. Request a copy of the official crash report once it's filed, since it usually contains details that become important later, including witness statements and the responding agency's preliminary findings. If you were a passenger or a bystander, let troopers document what you saw; clear, early accounts help investigators piece together how multi-vehicle crashes unfold.
