Proctorville, OH (January 10, 2026) – A deadly head-on collision claimed the life of one man and left another injured on January 9 in Lawrence County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ohio Route 7 and Township Rd 1303 in Proctorville. Troopers reported that a Jeep Compass traveling eastbound on Rte 7 crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as 84-year-old Robert L. Ramsey of Proctorville, was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Camry, a 60-year-old man from Chesapeake, sustained injuries in the crash. Emergency medical crews treated him at the scene before transporting him for further care. The extent of his injuries has not been made public.
Both vehicles were occupied only by their respective drivers. The road was closed temporarily during the response and investigation, but has since been reopened. Troopers continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
