Why Visibility and Road Conditions Matter in Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents often occur in low-light conditions, especially during early morning or nighttime hours. When visibility is reduced, drivers may have difficulty seeing someone in the roadway, particularly if street lighting is limited or inconsistent.
Road design and traffic flow can also affect how safely pedestrians can cross or move along busy streets. Areas without marked crosswalks or adequate lighting may increase the risk of accidents involving people on foot.
Driver awareness is another key factor. Staying alert and adjusting speed in darker conditions can help reduce the chance of a crash. At the same time, pedestrians can improve visibility by wearing lighter clothing or reflective materials when walking near traffic after dark.
