RANCHO CORDOVA, Sacramento County, Calif., Nov. 6, 2026 — Two to three vehicles collided on Thursday morning, November 5, on the westbound Highway 50 off-ramp at Hazel Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision involved a red sedan, a gray SUV and a white pickup truck, per the CHP incident log. Units arriving at the scene requested an ambulance for teenagers reported to have been in one of the vehicles, and the extent of the injuries has not been confirmed so far.
The crash blocked the number one lane of the off-ramp, and the report noted the vehicles were left as a hazard in that lane before they could be moved. Sacramento Fire was notified to respond, and two flatbed tow trucks were called to the scene to clear the vehicles.
By about 8:16 a.m., people at the scene reportedly had their own towing service en route, and the log shows the incident was being closed out at that point. No cause has been released, and the CHP has not said whether speed or impairment played a role.
We hope everyone involved comes through this safely.

Frequently Asked Questions
What usually causes multi-vehicle pile-ups?
These crashes commonly start with one vehicle slowing or stopping unexpectedly, usually near an off-ramp or merge point, and other drivers following too closely to react in time.
Why do chain-reaction crashes happen on ramps like this one?
Off-ramps combine slowing traffic, lane changes, and merging vehicles in a short stretch, which raises the chance that one sudden stop triggers collisions behind it.
What should I do if I come up on a crash blocking a lane on the highway?
Slow down well before the scene, watch for emergency vehicles and move over a lane if it's safe to do so, since responders and tow crews are frequently working close to traffic.
