RANCHO CUCAMONGA, San Bernardino County, Calif., Oct. 22, 2026 — A three-vehicle crash reportedly caused by a reckless driver injured people on eastbound I-210 near Archibald Avenue Wednesday afternoon, October 21, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The California Highway Patrol said a witness reported seeing a vehicle driving erratically just before the crash, which caused a pickup truck to collide with another vehicle. A white pickup with a ladder rack on its right side ended up in collision with a black BMW sedan, and a third vehicle, not yet described in detail, was also involved, the report said. The crash blocked the right shoulder of the freeway.
California Highway Patrol's Freeway Service Patrol was initially dispatched and later closed out its portion of the response once fire crews and additional units arrived. Fire personnel responded to the scene, and the incident was upgraded from a report of unknown injuries to a confirmed-injury collision.
At least one tow service was requested to clear vehicles from the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under review. We wish those injured a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can drivers avoid getting caught in a highway pile-up?
Keep a safe following distance, watch for sudden brake lights or swerving ahead, and stay alert for erratic drivers so you have time and space to react.
What should I do if I'm stopped near a crash on the freeway?
Move as far onto the shoulder as possible, turn on hazard lights, stay inside your vehicle if it's safe to do so, and watch for emergency vehicles approaching.
How does low visibility or sun glare contribute to these crashes?
Reduced visibility narrows a driver's reaction window, making it harder to spot slowing traffic or an erratic vehicle until it's very close.
Why does following distance matter so much on the highway?
A longer gap between vehicles gives a driver more time to brake or steer around trouble, especially when another car cuts in or stops suddenly.
What to Do After a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
If you're involved in a multi-vehicle crash, check yourself and others for injuries before doing anything else, and call 911 if anyone needs help. Move to a safe spot away from traffic if your vehicle is drivable and it's safe to do so. Exchange information with other drivers involved, and get contact details for any witnesses nearby. Even if you feel fine, see a doctor soon after, since some injuries like whiplash or internal bruising don't show symptoms right away. Keep a copy of the police report and any medical records in case you need them later.
