Cerro Gordo County, IA (July 19, 2026) – One individual sustained injuries after a collision between a vehicle and a trailer at the intersection of 110th Street and Nettle Avenue. The crash was reported on Friday, July 17, at about 12:14 p.m.
Officials with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office said Matthew Varner of Kensett was traveling south on Nettle Avenue when he struck the rear of a trailer pulled by Mark Lage of Sheffield. The trailer was hauling a John Deere tractor at the time of the crash. After the collision, Varner’s vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.
Varner suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, while Lage was not injured. Our thoughts remain with those affected as they continue their recovery.
