Frequently Asked Questions
What usually causes crashes that require extrication?
Extrication is typically needed when a vehicle's structure is badly damaged and doors or frames are jammed, which can result from high-speed impacts, rollovers or collisions with fixed objects.
How does speed affect how serious a crash becomes?
Higher speeds increase the force of impact and the distance a vehicle travels before stopping, which generally means more severe damage and a greater chance of injury.
Why is distracted driving considered so risky?
Taking attention off the road for even a few seconds reduces a driver's ability to react to sudden hazards, which can turn an avoidable situation into a crash.
Do weather and road conditions play a role in crashes like this?
Wet, icy or debris-covered roads can reduce traction and increase stopping distance, making it harder for drivers to avoid a collision.
