Why Intersection Crashes Can Lead to Serious Outcomes
Intersections are common locations for crashes because vehicles cross paths while traveling in different directions. Drivers must watch traffic signals, turning vehicles, and changing traffic patterns at the same time. Even a small mistake can lead to a serious collision.
When crashes occur at intersections, vehicles may overturn if struck from the side. This type of impact can cause sudden loss of balance and increase injury risk, especially for passengers.
Traffic volume, signal timing, and driver attention all affect intersection safety. Staying alert and slowing down when approaching intersections can help reduce the chance of a severe crash.
