Why Motorcycle Crashes Can Become Especially Dangerous After Impact
Motorcycle crashes can become more severe when the impact causes the motorcycle to ignite or creates other hazards after the initial collision. Riders have very little protection compared to occupants of enclosed vehicles, increasing the risk of catastrophic injuries.
Investigators typically examine vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and witness statements to determine how the collision occurred. They may also evaluate whether post-impact factors, such as fire or fuel system damage, contributed to the severity of the incident. These findings help provide a clearer understanding of the crash.
