Bratenahl, OH (September 1, 2026) – According to Bratenahl police, a 55-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries following a collision involving a passenger vehicle on Interstate 90 early on Sunday morning, August 30, near Eddy Road. The collision happened shortly before 1:15 a.m.

The motorcyclist was from South Euclid and died at the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 31-year-old Cleveland man, allegedly fled after the collision but was later located and arrested. Police said possible charges include aggravated vehicular assault, failure to stop after an accident, and operating a vehicle under the influence.

The case remains under investigation, and additional details are expected as they are confirmed. We extend our sincere condolences to the motorcyclist’s family and loved ones.

What Should Motorists Know About Motorcycle Crashes?

Motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles and can be harder to see in traffic. Drivers should check mirrors and blind spots carefully before changing lanes, turning, or merging.

Following a motorcycle at a safe distance gives drivers more time to react to sudden braking or changes in traffic. Motorcyclists also benefit from maintaining enough space around their bikes to respond to roadway hazards.

Leaving the scene of a collision can create additional difficulties for injured people and other motorists. Drivers involved in a collision should remain at the scene, check for injuries, and provide information as required.
