Frequently Asked Questions
Where do fatal crashes like this tend to happen?
Rural and unlit roads, including back roads used by off-road vehicles, see a higher share of fatal crashes than busy highways, often because of higher speeds and longer emergency response times.
What factors make a crash more likely to be deadly?
Speed, the type of vehicle involved, whether occupants are restrained, and how quickly medical help arrives all play a role in whether a crash turns fatal.
Does wearing a seat belt or harness matter in a UTV?
Yes. Restraints and, where equipped, safety nets or doors help keep occupants inside the vehicle during a rollover or collision, which lowers the chance of being thrown or crushed.
What to Do After a UTV Crash in Ringling, OK
If you're involved in a UTV crash, you should get checked by a medical professional even if injuries seem minor at first, since impacts and sudden stops can cause harm that isn't immediately obvious. Make sure a law enforcement report is filed, and if you witnessed the crash or arrived shortly after, try to write down what you saw and noted about the scene, including road conditions and the vehicle's position, while it's fresh in memory. If a loved one was hurt or killed in a UTV crash, keep copies of any official reports and medical records, as they may be needed later for insurance or other purposes.
