Rio Linda, CA (January 12, 2026) – A 10-year-old child was injured Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Elkhorn Blvd and Cherry Ln in Rio Linda. The incident was reported on January 10 and prompted a rapid response from both the California Highway Patrol and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Upon arrival, emergency medics located the injured child and assessed their condition. The child had sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Authorities have not released the current condition of the child, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening at the time of transport.
It remains unclear whether the child was in a designated crosswalk at the time of the crash. Officials have not yet released information about the driver or potential contributing factors to the collision.
