Frequently Asked Questions
What usually causes pedestrian accidents?
Pedestrian crashes commonly happen at intersections, parking lots, and roadway crossings, usually tied to driver visibility, failure to yield, or a pedestrian entering traffic unexpectedly.
Does vehicle speed matter in pedestrian crashes?
Yes. Lower vehicle speeds generally give drivers more time to stop and reduce the force of impact, which affects the severity of a pedestrian's injuries.
Are pedestrian accidents more likely at night?
Reduced visibility after dark can make it harder for drivers to see pedestrians, which is one reason many pedestrian crashes are reported during evening and nighttime hours.
