Rocky River, OH (March 30, 2026) – Five women were hurt after a two-car crash shut down part of I-90 eastbound in Rocky River on Saturday afternoon, March 28. The collision happened around 2:10 p.m. on I-90/SR-2 East at SR-254/Detroit Road and involved a 2008 Toyota and a 2026 Nissan.
Early findings show the 35-year-old Lakewood driver of the Toyota struck the rear of the Nissan. The Nissan was being driven by a 54-year-old woman from Lorain, and four female passengers between 18 and 64 years old were also inside the vehicle.
All five women in the Nissan were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries, though the exact extent of those injuries has not been released. The eastbound lanes were temporarily closed following the crash as emergency units worked at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with distracted driving being reviewed as a possible factor.
We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
What Is Usually Reviewed After a Rear-End Crash on an Interstate?
After a rear-end crash on a highway, the first details often reviewed include traffic speed, following distance, and how quickly vehicles were able to stop. On busy roads like interstates, even a short delay in braking can lead to a serious accident.
Investigators also often look at roadway conditions, traffic flow, and whether congestion may have caused sudden slowing. Damage to the rear and front of the vehicles can help show the point of impact and how forceful the collision was.
When several passengers are hurt, hospital evaluations may later provide a clearer picture of how the crash affected everyone involved. These details can help explain the sequence of events as more facts become available.
