What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed After a Rollover Crash?
Rollover crashes include a detailed review of roadway conditions, vehicle movement, and the sequence of actions leading up to the overturning vehicle. Investigators may examine tire marks, road curvature, weather conditions, and the final resting positions of the vehicles to better understand how the rollover occurred.
Vehicle design can also be part of the review process. Certain vehicles have a higher center of gravity, which may increase the likelihood of rolling over during sudden steering maneuvers or when leaving the roadway. Seat belt use is frequently examined as well because restraints can reduce the risk of serious injury during an overturn.
When multiple vehicles are involved, investigators may also evaluate witness statements, vehicle damage patterns, and available video footage. These details can help establish how the chain of events unfolded and whether additional contributing factors were present before the rollover took place.
