Injury Risks After Rollover Crashes
Rollover crashes can cause serious injuries because a vehicle may hit the ground several times before coming to rest. People inside can be thrown against seats, doors, windows, or other interior areas during the crash.
Older adults may face a higher risk of severe injury after a crash. Broken bones, head trauma, chest injuries, and internal injuries can require hospital care, even when symptoms are not fully clear at first.
Medical helicopters might be used when a patient needs faster access to advanced treatment. After a rollover, emergency units may also check for leaking fluids, broken glass, unstable vehicle positions, and debris near the roadway.
