How Head-On Hit-and-Run Crashes Are Investigated
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of collisions because of the force created when two vehicles meet front to front. When one vehicle is reportedly traveling in the wrong direction, the risk increases sharply, especially on multi-lane roads with steady traffic.
In hit-and-run cases, investigators often rely on witness descriptions, vehicle color, and the last known direction of travel to locate the fleeing driver. Surveillance cameras in nearby business areas, such as industrial corridors, may also provide helpful footage.
Drivers involved in a crash are encouraged to move to a safe location if possible and activate hazard lights to reduce the chance of additional collisions. Remaining alert and reporting detailed information can assist with follow-up efforts and help improve roadway safety.
