ROYAL CITY, Grant County, Wash., Nov. 6, 2026 — Two drivers were hurt on Wednesday, November 4, when a car and a semi-truck collided at the intersection of Road D SE and SR26, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The car was headed south on Road D SE approaching the intersection while the semi was traveling west on SR26, troopers said. Fog and low visibility were present at the time, and the car reportedly failed to slow before striking the front of the semi. The car came to rest on the right shoulder of SR26. The semi rolled over and also came to rest on the shoulder.
The driver of the car was taken to Samaritan Hospital with injuries. The driver of the semi was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center with injuries. The extent of their injuries was not released.
The Washington State Patrol said the cause of the crash was speed too fast for the foggy conditions. Both vehicles were considered total losses.
We wish those injured a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are collisions involving semi-trucks usually more severe than typical car crashes?
A loaded semi can weigh 20 to 30 times more than a passenger car, so even a crash at moderate speed can cause major damage and a greater risk of rollover for the truck.
What are common causes of large-truck collisions?
Reduced visibility from fog or weather, speeds that are too fast for road conditions, driver fatigue, and failure to yield at intersections are frequent factors in these crashes.
What is an underride crash, and how is it different from what happened here?
An underride crash happens when a smaller vehicle slides partly beneath a truck's trailer, usually causing more severe injuries. This collision instead involved the car striking the semi's front end, and the semi rolling onto its side.
What should drivers do when approaching an intersection in fog?
Slow down well before reaching the intersection, use low-beam headlights, and be prepared to stop even if the road ahead is not fully visible.
